Ob in Managerkreisen oder unter Kampfkunstanhängern gilt die »Kunst des Krieges« als ein Leitfaden für Personalführung, Strategie und Menschenkenntnis.

Eine kurze Geschichte der Menschheit

Der Mensch: Krone der Schöpfung oder Schrecken des Ökosystems?

Wie haben wir, Homo Sapiens, es geschafft, den Kampf der sechs menschlichen Spezies ums Überleben für uns zu entscheiden? Warum ließen unsere Vorfahren, die einst Jäger und Sammler waren, sich nieder, betrieben Ackerbau und gründeten Städte und Königreiche? Warum begannen wir, an Götter zu glauben, an Nationen, an Menschenrechte? Warum setzen wir Vertrauen in Geld, Bücher und Gesetze und unterwerfen uns der Bürokratie, Zeitplänen und dem Konsum? Und hat uns all dies im Lauf der Jahrtausende glücklicher gemacht?

Vor 100 000 Jahren war Homo sapiens noch ein unbedeutendes Tier, das unauffällig in einem abgelegenen Winkel des afrikanischen Kontinents lebte. Unsere Vorfahren teilten sich den Planeten mit mindestens fünf weiteren menschlichen Spezies, und die Rolle, die sie im Ökosystem spielten, war nicht größer als die von Gorillas, Libellen oder Quallen. Vor 70 000 Jahren dann vollzog sich ein mysteriöser und rascher Wandel mit dem Homo sapiens, und es war vor allem die Beschaffenheit seines Gehirns, die ihn zum Herren des Planeten und zum Schrecken des Ökosystems werden ließ. Bis heute hat sich diese Vorherrschaft stetig zugespitzt: Der Mensch hat die Fähigkeit zu schöpferischem und zu zerstörerischem Handeln wie kein anderes Lebewesen. Und die Menschheit steht jetzt an einem Punkt, an dem sie entscheiden muss, welchen Weg sie von hier aus gehen will.

Mein Werdegang als Hundetrainer

Hunde haben mich schon immer begeistert. Schon von klein auf war ich ein klassischer „Hundemensch“. Wie ich dazu gekommen bin, dieses Hobby zum Beruf zu machen? Inspiriert hat mich unser Familienhund Spencer.

Damals war ich ein einfacher Hundebesitzer; Spencer ein durchtriebener Australien Shepard. Wir wollten nach unserem ersten Familienhund Ellie, einer Collie-Sennen-Mischlingsdame, einen sportlichen, aktiven Hund haben. Den haben wir mit Spencer definitiv bekommen.

Leider ergaben sich die ein oder anderen Probleme. Aus der Retroperspektive weiß ich, dass das Verhalten und die Umgangsweise von mir und meiner Familie, bzw. besser gesagt der für Spencer verantwortlichen Menschen, Schuld daran waren. Ich verurteile uns dabei auch im Nachhinein nicht; Schließlich haben wir ihm weder absichtlich Schaden wollen, noch würden Wir wieder so handeln. Wir waren ganz einfach liebende Hundebesitzer, die nicht genau wussten, was sie tun mussten.

Nicht, dass wir es nicht versucht hätten: Wir haben brav die Hundeschule besucht. Dort hat Spencer sich auch außerordentlich gut gezeigt. Unsere Probleme, wie z.B. problematische Hundebegegnungen beim Spazieren gehen, oder respektloses Verhalten von Spencer uns gegenüber, wurden dadurch leider nicht gelöst. Für Spencer war die Hundeschule scheinbar eher eine Art Theatershow, bei der man in der „Showtime“ performt, jedoch spätestens im Kofferraum beim herausfahren aus der Einfahrt jedes Gelernte Skript über den Haufen wirft.

Nachdem Spencer die fünfte Hundeschule mit 1+ absolviert hatte, jedoch keinerlei Besserung der eigentlichen Probleme ersichtlich war, waren wir bereit, einen professionellen Hundetrainer um Hilfe zu bitten. Eine der Ideen des Trainers war, Spencer tagsüber in seiner Hundetagesstätte unterzubringen, damit er Sozialkontakt unter Artgenossen erfahren kann. Spätestens beim Besuch dieser Tagesstätte war ich überzeugt: Was für ein geiler Job!

Die Tagestätte führte eine offene Rudelhaltung, nach dem Motto: Alle zusammen auf eine große Wiese. Die Interaktion der Hunde untereinander in einer großen Gruppe faszinierte mich. Primär um für mich und Spencer zu lernen, begann ich dort nebenberuflich ein Praktikum. Eigentlich wartete ich auf die Genesung einer Schulterverletzung, um ein Sportstudium zu beginnen. Die Arbeit mit den Hunden hat mich aber dermaßen begeistert, dass ich mich für einen neuen Karriereweg entschied.

Nach knapp einem Jahr wurde ich als Tierpfleger eingestellt, nach weiteren 3 Monaten war ich alleinverantwortlich für das Tagesgeschäft und die Pension. Wie man sich sicherlich vorstellen kann, ist es kein Zuckerschlecken für bis zu 30 Hunde gleichzeitig verantwortlich zu sein und für Recht und Ordnung zu sorgen. Es war eine extrem zehrende Tätigkeit, jedoch konnte ich auch sehr viel Lernen.

Am Meisten haben mir die Hunde selbst beigebracht. Anhand ihrer Verhaltensweisen, Körpersprache, Laute und dem Umgang miteinander konnte ich mich darin Schulen, die Hunde und ihre Motivation deuten zu können. Welche Verhaltensweisen sind „normal“; ab wann schreite ich ein; Wie integriere ich einen unbekannten Hund in einer Gruppe. Viele Fragen, denen ich mich tagtäglich aufs Neue stellen durfte, deren Antwort immer anders und individuell waren. Meine spätere Trainingsphilosophie ist an dieses Verhalten der Hunde angelehnt: Wir machen das, was die Hunde untereinander auch machen. Relativ simpel, aber natürlich und aus meiner Sicht am klarsten zielführend.

Ich war in meiner Tätigkeit sehr erfolgreich und durfte fortan an Gruppentrainings teilnehmen und assistieren. Auch ein eigenes Seminar zu Schulungszwecken für unsere Kunden durfte ich ausarbeiten. Alles in allem habe ich die Zeit extrem genossen. Nachdem ich jedoch nach einiger Zeit nicht mehr wirklich besonders gefordert war, wollte ich gerne auf selbstständiger Basis weitermachen und darin eine neue Herausforderung für mich finden.

Fortan begann ich also meine Zeit als selbstständiger Hundetrainer. Diese Erfahrung war für mich zunächst auch erstmal neu. Es ist eine Sache, Hunde zu lesen und zu führen; eine andere jedoch, Menschen darin zu Schulen, wie sie dasselbe mit ihren Hunden auch erfolgreich gestalten konnten.

Mir war recht schnell klar, dass es verschiedenste Dinge gab, die ein erfolgreiches Einzeltraining voraussetzen: Eigeninitiative, Disziplin, ein positives Mindset, Selbstbeherrschung, Glauben, Struktur und vieles mehr. Glücklicherweise habe ich mir in diesen Bereichen durch Mindvalley und Bücher bereits einiges an Fähigkeiten aneignen können, weshalb ich auch dort Erfolge feiern durfte. Gemeinsam mit meinen Kunden und deren Hunden.

Dennoch lerne ich nie aus; Ganz nach Sokrates weiß ich, dass ich nichts weiß. Und ich freue mich darauf, ein kleines bisschen weniger Dumm zu sein, wenn ich mein nächstes Training haben werde; Welches wieder aufs Neue ganz individuell sein wird, und mein bisherigen Wissenstand erneut auf die Probe stellen wird.
